Bathroom Trends for 2019

One of our favorite parts of the holiday season is that it’s the time of year design gurus start predicting what’s going to be all the rage next season. If you’re planning on building, remodeling, or maybe just want to do a little sprucing up, here are some ideas to keep in mind.

Spa Inspired Designs

Bathrooms in 2019 are all about the experience, the notion of the bathroom as a purely utilitarian space is over. People’s homes are their sanctuaries and the bathroom is where you go to relax and unwind alone after your day. Drawing inspiration from the pinnacle of relaxation only makes sense.

The use of natural materials is a major way to create the feeling of serenity key to this look, this bathroom achieves this beautifully with the wood wall and coordinating bench. The light fixture adds a touch of whimsy that keeps the space from feeling too serious.contemporary-master-bath-the-warmth-of-natural-wood-balances-the-stark-elegance-of-the-freestanding-tub-1.jpegPhoto: Besch Design
This bathroom takes the spa design to the next level with it’s open concept rainfall shower placed in front of a large window looking out into a tropical garden. The modern floating sink opposite a floating bench make going to an actual spa almost unnecessary.Modern-Natural-Bath-Fittings-Accessories-ShowerPhoto: Residence Style

Open Concept Bathrooms

Not for the faint of heart, open concept bathrooms have been growing in popularity in recent years and seemed poised to take off in 2019. Many open concept bathrooms draw very strongly on spa inspired design, though this isn’t always the case.

This freestanding partition, doubling as the a vanity area with sinks and countertops, allows for a feeling of privacy while still creating that open concept feeling that comes from free flowing light and not having doors.SquareRooms-Open-Concept-Bathroom-Fixed-Divider.pngPhoto: Square Rooms
Using glass walls is another popular way of incorporating the feeling of open concept design into your bathroom.open-concept-master-suite-bedroom-contemporary-with-open-bath-rectangular-decorative-pillowsPhoto: Chic Home Life

Place A Vanity In Front Of A Window

One fresh design idea for 2019 is to place your vanity in front of a window. Especially if you have a wonderful view, you naturally want to take advantage, and everyone knows natural light is the optimal choice if you have it. There are so many ways to place or suspend a mirror, we don’t think this trend will be going anywhere anytime soon.

This contemporary bathroom take the look to the next level by placing a double vanity in front of a glass wall. The pole mounted mirrors parallel the lines of the glass framing and modern open shelving continues the aesthetic on the vanity.bathroom-vanity-mirrors-hanging-in-front-of-windowsPhoto: DecorPad
This is an especially good idea in a smaller bathroom, where lighting and window space can be limited. This round mirror, suspended from a rope and pulley give off a fun, rustic nautical vibe that makes this small piece a statement.0a73a9f9759b78b0a0f6c927367ea53b.jpgPhoto: Pinterest

Smart Bathrooms

Technology has taken over practically every aspect of our lives, and it should come as no surprise that our bathrooms haven’t been left out of the revolution. From smart showers where you can control water pressure and temperature on demand, to mirrors that are integrative media systems, the future is now and it is in our bathrooms.

Statement Walls

Whether with a bright print or piece of art, designers and homeowners are making walls, and not additional accessories, the focal point of the bathroom in 2019.

If you don’t want to commit to a more permanent option, using a large or dramatic piece of art as a focal point in your bathroom is also a very 2019 design choice. BN-RB835_1208BA_M_20161205141323Photo: Wall Street Journal

Art Deco Is Back

Art Deco is a style of design and architecture that emerged from France after WWI. Popular throughout the 1920s and 30s, Art Deco is defined by bold geometric patterns, beautiful craftsmanship, and ornately lavish details. While art deco isn’t for everyone, if you’re looking to inject a little high style or drama into your space, this may be exactly the aesthetic you’re looking for.

But What Have You Done For Me Lately?

It’s been a busy couple of months around here at Prestige Marble & Granite. We are all moved into our new, completely indoor, heated AND air conditioned showroom space, located at 2494 Park Plus Drive in Columbia Tennessee.

Just one section of our awesome new showroom space – packed with a variety of natural stone slabs, of course.42521683_1864840666918534_3872770112427655168_nPhoto: Prestige M & G

We love how these amazing blue quartzite counters turned out. Blue quartzite is an extremely versatile stone that is practical for both indoor and outdoor use thanks to its beauty and incredible durability. Quartzite is an extremely hard natural stone, created when sandstone is put through high heat and pressurization processes deep under the earth’s surface. Blue quartzite is a popular choice for those wanting more than just white and gray out of their natural stone.

Fabulous Bathroom Vanities

When granite or marble counters are mentioned, most people instantly think about the kitchen. And we do understand, but we also know how beautiful and functional granite and marble each are as bathroom counters. Here are some amazing bathroom vanities we are loving right now.

This 3.5″ slab of Calacatta Gold Marble counter was the perfect choice to complement this luxurious nature-inspired space. This feels more like an expensive retreat than it does someone’s master bath and the only issue is how difficult it must be to leave this amazing bathroom.Contemporary-Bathrooms-Mountain-Retreats-02-1-KindesignPhoto: OneKinDesign
This gorgeous white and blue bathroom feels totally serene. The white marble with light gray veining is a beautiful match with the blue-gray hued walls. This master bath is a great example of how a room can simultaneously feel modern and classic.

This master bathroom fits perfectly in the rustic Montana retreat it’s located in.  The natural stone is the same on the vanity, running between the blue tiles on the floor, and in the standup shower providing a real sense of continuity.contemporary-bathrooms-mountain-retreats-09-1-kindesign.jpgPhoto: OneKinDesign
How fabulous is this white marble waterfall style double vanity? We are drooling over how chic the open shelving looks with the low-edged open glass containers. This storage option is super stylish and keeps everything beautifully organized.design-ideas-wonderful-white-bathroom-decoration-using-white-marble-bathroom-vanity-including-marble-floor-tiles-and-oval-white-free-stand-bathtub-heavenly-interior-design-using-marble-fPhoto: Gogoigood
This master bath is the perfect mix of rustic and contemporary design.  We love how all the different natural stone textures blend together so wonderfully and are really set off by the dark wood cabinets, giving the entire space a real sense of balance without feeling overly effeminate.

We love this freestanding bathroom vanity with dual sinks on opposite sides. This is a great option for a smaller bathroom, allowing homeowners to maximize functional counter space.

This bathroom is proof you don’t need a huge space to have an amazing bathroom with a gorgeous vanity. The thick slab makes a real statement in a smaller bathroom and makes the need for a lot of extra decor minimal.55c151feb28acca368628935-w1000_h1000Photo: Domino
Counter space will never be an issue in this amazing bathroom with a floating vanity that runs the entire length of one wall. We really love the mirror above, especially because no matter what direction you’re facing in this space, you get to enjoy the gorgeous views provided by the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows.

Mad About Minimalist Kitchens

unique minimalist kitchen Fresh Minimalist Kitchen Awesome Minimalist Architecture For MinimalistPhoto: Priapro

As much as we love the bright pops of color, prints, and decorative elements that are so on-trend today, we still have a sincere appreciation for a more minimalistic approach to kitchen design. Clean lines and solid colors will always be in style, and minimalistic doesn’t have to be boring. Here are a few unique minimal kitchens we are feeling particularly inspired by.

This rustic wooden accent wall is an unexpected touch in a minimalistic kitchen. The floating wooden shelves and complementary wood floor really warm up this otherwise white space. 09-floating-shelves-for-a-sleek-minimalist-kitchen-in-white-echo-with-a-cypress-wallPhoto: DigsDigs
The textured backsplash wall and tile floor give this monochromatic look some nice texture. And we love how the modern L-shaped light fixture moves with the counter top and helps define the kitchen in this very open concept layout.

This minimalistic kitchen mixes fun materials to keep the feeling totally today. The different metals, combination of wood and natural stone countertops, and funky wooden drawer fronts make this simple design feel very unique.10-Thornsbeach-rd-4-1600x1067Photo: These Four Walls
This kitchen with floor to ceiling glass is absolutely amazing. You feel like you’re outside and the beautiful views mean you don’t need any extra decoration.white-minimalist-kitchen-20-designs-for-a-unique-atmosphere-6-805Photo: Of Design

This kitchen design isn’t just unique for a minimalist kitchen, it’s unique for any kitchen. There are so many cool design elements happening here, and we are obsessed with all of the counter space. This huge, open kitchen would be an absolutely amazing space for entertaining.wood-clean-lines-big-kitchen-designPhoto: HomeEdit
How cool is this ultra modern minimalist kitchen? The bright orange with wood and white feels almost futuristic and the wall of windows keeps the space from feeling dark.under-staircase-dark-orange-kitchen-cabinet-with-brushed-nickel-track-lighting-and-laminate-floor-in-modern-minimalist-kitchen-design-1-615x410Photo: Kirin Design Studios
This minimalistic design feels both old school European and modern minimal at the same time. The hexagonal neutral toned  tiles focused behind the main work areas in the kitchen are a really fun twist on a backsplash and make the light wooden table top fit with the matte black of the cabinetry.

These kitchens prove that minimal can absolutely feel luxurious.  With the use of high quality materials and a few luxe touches, these kitchens all make less look like so much more.

Beautiful Backsplashes

Whether you’re looking to add a touch of whimsy or wanting to modernize your kitchen, the backsplash is the perfect place to start. While we are definitely partial to counter tops here at Prestige, the backsplash is an integral part in defining the feeling of your kitchen. Here are are a few amazing backsplashes we love to inspire you in your own home.

This Moroccan tile makes an absolutely beautiful backsplash.  The design makes it a real statement, perfect for giving an otherwise minimal kitchen that extra pop. Using it to frame the range, as shown below, makes it look like a piece of modern art.img-5770-1531412686.jpg/-+*Photo: Scout Design
This calacatta marble looks gorgeous continued from the counter tops to the backsplash. The cut out curves that follow the lines of the French kitchen hood make this look a total showstopper.steel-french-vent-hood-curved-calcutta-marble-cooktop-backsplashPhoto: DecorPad
This fun kitchen is totally on trend for 2018 with the open shelving, farmhouse sink and brass accents. However, it’s the gorgeous deep blue-green hexagonal tile backsplash that take this look to the next level. The bright white grout matches the natural stone countertops and really make each tile pop. And we are obsessed with the whimsy of the scalloped edge design element.10-kitchens-where-the-backsplash-is-the-main-event-kitchen-backsplash-tile-ideas-58ff532d014a5e20454de119-w620_h800Photo: Domino
This framed mosaic tile backsplash beautifully complements the marble counter and white cabinets. It’s multi-hued neutral tones mean that it will match perfectly with a variety of natural stone countertops and color schemes.101895115Photo: Better Homes & Gardens
This geometric-patterned tile looks beautiful with these green, combination open and closed style, Shaker cabinets. The carrara marble countertops and island lend a touch of elegance to this minimalistically rustic kitchen. mel-yates-house-3oct14_pr_b.jpgPhoto: House & Garden
This large pattern tile gives this traditional white kitchen a real dramatic flair. The dark floors and rich red rug are the perfect accents to tie the whole look together.19732986184_9f0ab18f2d_zPhoto: HiSugarPlum
Could this integration of the trendy mosaic design motif with the classic subway tiles be more amazing? The color scheme feels both trendy and timeless, and the mix of light and dark tiles give this backsplash the feeling of a three dimensional piece of artwork.

Color Trends for Fall 2018

A-Preview-of-Pantones-Home-Interiors-Colour-Trends-2018-1-8-800x520Photo: Coveted

As summer winds down, we can’t help but start thinking about about cooler weather, pumpkin everything, and of course, current fall decorating trends. With the beautiful new neutrals that have been everywhere this year, it only makes sense that bright pops of color are on the home decor horizon. The colors feel especially fresh as they’re not all the typical fall favorites.

aw18-trends-1-1533505966Photo: House Beautiful

According to Pantone, the authority on all things color, Fall/Winter 2018 is all about bright, bold hues. “The Fall/Winter 2018 palette continues to show designers expressing the need for individuality, ingenuity and creativity though fashion,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, in a press release. “As designers and consumers alike continue to transition away from cyclical trends, and instead focus on self-expressive colors that evade antiquated seasonal structure, we are seeing very notable non-traditional choices.”

Leading this fall’s Top 10 list are Red Pear, Valiant Poppy and Nebulas Blue, followed by Ceylon Yellow, Martini Olive, Russet Orange and Ultra Violet. Ranking eighth through tenth are Crocus Petal, Limelight and Quetzal Green. As you can see, most of these shades don’t feel traditionally autumnal. pantone-ftr-img3-copy.jpg

Designers are making big statements with a singular bright hue like never before, though if that’s not your style you can absolutely incorporate these shades into your decor in smaller doses. The real trend here is self expression, so do what makes you feel happy in your space. As always, trends will come and go, the trick is integrating them into your home in a way that fits your personal aesthetic. Here are some of our favorite spaces that incorporate the 2018 fall/winter palette to help inspire you!

Interesting Islands

Large or small, everyone loves a kitchen island. The kitchen is the heart of the home and people love hanging out there. In your home your kitchen island can be whatever you want it to be, and serve whatever purpose you want it to. It is with that thought in mind we share with you some really cool examples of unique kitchen islands.

This ultra-modern horseshoe island works beautifully with a workspace level and lower glass half-circle dining level. You could also easily pull up bar stools to the upper level on the outside edges to create more seating while entertaining.Kitchen-Island-Trends-2018-37Photo: Mendelday Kitchen
We love this triangular island with it’s gorgeous curves. It also incorporates the mixed materials trend we talked about last month by combining natural stone with a built in cutting board space. This design allows for seating on two sides, with a separate workspace area, maximizing its functionality.unique-kitchen-island-shapes-trends-with-enchanting-pictures-ideas-and-styles-cartPhoto: Eckti
