Bathroom Trends for 2019

One of our favorite parts of the holiday season is that it’s the time of year design gurus start predicting what’s going to be all the rage next season. If you’re planning on building, remodeling, or maybe just want to do a little sprucing up, here are some ideas to keep in mind.

Spa Inspired Designs

Bathrooms in 2019 are all about the experience, the notion of the bathroom as a purely utilitarian space is over. People’s homes are their sanctuaries and the bathroom is where you go to relax and unwind alone after your day. Drawing inspiration from the pinnacle of relaxation only makes sense.

The use of natural materials is a major way to create the feeling of serenity key to this look, this bathroom achieves this beautifully with the wood wall and coordinating bench. The light fixture adds a touch of whimsy that keeps the space from feeling too serious.contemporary-master-bath-the-warmth-of-natural-wood-balances-the-stark-elegance-of-the-freestanding-tub-1.jpegPhoto: Besch Design
This bathroom takes the spa design to the next level with it’s open concept rainfall shower placed in front of a large window looking out into a tropical garden. Open Concept Bathrooms

Not for the faint of heart, open concept bathrooms have been growing in popularity in recent years and seemed poised to take off in 2019. Many open concept bathrooms draw very strongly on spa inspired design, though this isn’t always the case.

This freestanding partition, doubling as the a vanity area with sinks and countertops, allows for a feeling of privacy while still creating that open concept feeling that comes from free flowing light and not having doors.SquareRooms-Open-Concept-Bathroom-Fixed-Divider.pngPhoto: Square Rooms
Using glass walls is another popular way of incorporating the feeling of open concept design into your bathroom.open-concept-master-suite-bedroom-contemporary-with-open-bath-rectangular-decorative-pillowsPhoto: Chic Home Life

Place A Vanity In Front Of A Window

One fresh design idea for 2019 is to place your vanity in front of a window. Especially if you have a wonderful view, you naturally want to take advantage, and everyone knows natural light is the optimal choice if you have it. There are so many ways to place or suspend a mirror, we don’t think this trend will be going anywhere anytime soon.

This contemporary bathroom take the look to the next level by placing a double vanity in front of a glass wall. The pole mounted mirrors parallel the lines of the glass framing and modern open shelving continues the aesthetic on the vanity.bathroom-vanity-mirrors-hanging-in-front-of-windowsPhoto: DecorPad
This is an especially good idea in a smaller bathroom, where lighting and window space can be limited. This round mirror, suspended from a rope and pulley give off a fun, rustic nautical vibe that makes this small piece a statement.0a73a9f9759b78b0a0f6c927367ea53b.jpgPhoto: Pinterest

Smart Bathrooms

Technology has taken over practically every aspect of our lives, and it should come as no surprise that our bathrooms haven’t been left out of the revolution. From smart showers where you can control water pressure and temperature on demand, to mirrors that are integrative media systems, the future is now and it is in our bathrooms.

Statement Walls

Whether with a bright print or piece of art, designers and homeowners are making walls, and not additional accessories, the focal point of the bathroom in 2019.

If you don’t want to commit to a more permanent option, using a large or dramatic piece of art as a focal point in your bathroom is also a very 2019 design choice. BN-RB835_1208BA_M_20161205141323Photo: Wall Street Journal

Art Deco Is Back

Art Deco is a style of design and architecture that emerged from France after WWI. Popular throughout the 1920s and 30s, Art Deco is defined by bold geometric patterns, beautiful craftsmanship, and ornately lavish details. While art deco isn’t for everyone, if you’re looking to inject a little high style or drama into your space, this may be exactly the aesthetic you’re looking for.

Smart Storage Ideas to Make the Most of a Small Bathroom

A small bathroom might seem like an obstacle you can’t overcome. But it doesn’t have to be. Organization is key in any small space, and making every element as functional as possible is the goal. Here are a few of our favorite creative ways to maximize every possible inch of space in your small bathroom.

We love the idea of using shower caddies to really maximize the storage potential of a small, under sink cabinet. The caddies are naturally the perfect size to hold your products and easily double your storage potential. It’s important your shower caddy has a flat bottom so it will stand.

Hot Bathroom Design Trends for 2016

According to The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), remodeling today is driven more by personal enjoyment or meeting specific needs rather than adding resale value. But renovating your bathroom is no small investment in terms of both time and money, so it’s important to ensure you have a clear vision of how you want your revamped space to look, work and feel. While it certainly isn’t necessary to follow all the trends to have a good design that’s pleasing, learning about the latest in design can help you get on track and pinpoint what you want and need. Here’s a look at some 2016 trends that offer a fresh new approach to bathroom design.

Angular Elements
Geometric-inspired faucets and fixtures are finding their way into bathrooms and powder rooms across America. Angular designs are making appearances in a variety of bath elements, including bathtubs, showerheads and soap dishes.

Natural Elements
Expect to see more earthy materials like natural stone and river rock in bathrooms next year, not merely on floors and walls, but also on vanity tops, sinks and baths, feature walls and bathroom furniture.
Metallic Touches
While metallics have been a major trend the past few years, these luxe finishes won’t be falling out of favor anytime soon. Metals contrast beautifully with natural elements, while reflecting light and injecting style into the bathroom, whether with an industrial twist or a hint of glamour.
Colors
One emerging color trend for 2016 is white, or more specifically, off-white. In fact, both Benjamin Moore and Gladden have made off white hues their “color of the year” for 2016, and Sherwin -Williams and Behr have included off-whites in their 2016 color trend forecasts.

Gray has been trendy for the past few years, and it promises to remain strong in 2016. Gray and white will be a popular combo for 2016 bathrooms.

Black and white will be making a strong statement for 2016 bathrooms. Particularly, designers are doing interesting things with black and white tile. Black, gray and white is another interesting color combination you will be seeing in the coming year.

Embrace your feminine side because pink is in. Whether it’s bright and flashy or a more subtle pink blush, an earthy taupe or cotton candy, it’s all about shades of pink this season. Don’t be afraid to indulge in pinkiness: pink towels, pink walls, pink cabinets and window frames, even pink paint or wallpaper. It’s all good!
