Summer is officially over. And you know what that means. Pumpkins, falling leaves, crisper air, the holidays will be here before we know it. And while there are so many things to love about this time of year, one of our favorites is decorating around the house! There are so many ways to “Autumn-ize” your home; here are a few ideas we really love.

Pumpkin Everything

When decorating for fall, you can’t go wrong with pumpkins and gourds. And there’s almost no such thing as too many pumpkins when creating your look. Pumpkin decor has come a long way since someone first carved one and stuck a candle in it hundreds of years ago. Today, pumpkins can be incorporated into really any design aesthetic. There is almost no limit to what you can do with pumpkins, this is just a short sampling with some of our current favorites.

Wrapping white pumpkins with bittersweet is an easy way to make a big statement as a centerpiece or on a mantle. Some people are hesitant to use bittersweet inside, and while they’re not wrong, we think it’s impact far outweighs its potential for messiness.white-pumpkins-386x580Photo: Your Cozy Home
Stacking smaller gourds in glass cylinders of varying heights is another way to modernize your fall decor. You can use gourds of all shapes and colors. Putting a little water in the bottom and placing a short length of live pumpkin vine (pulled out and the root and then cleaned of dirt) really gives this display something extra.BHG155276.jpg.rendition.largestPhoto: Better Homes & Gardens
Glitter is a really fun way to mix up your pumpkin decor. If you like the natural tones or want to go more outrageous with your design, it’s all up to you with this DIY project. It is important to note that the glitter and glue shorten the shelf life of a real pumpkin, so this may be one instance where faux pumpkins are better suited. 4400856_284854_GlitterPump2Photo: Sweet Paul
Gold paint fancies up any size pumpkin. You can paint the gold directly onto the pumpkin, or paint it another color and and put gold on top of that. Either looks absolutely beautiful. Fall Foilage

Colorful leaves and fall flowers look beautiful in any home. These elements also add a fun textural element to your fall decor. Rich yellows, oranges, golds reds and browns dominate and are what you want to look for here. Whether you choose to use the real stuff or go for faux, it’s all about bringing the outdoors in.

These simple arrangements pack a huge punch in this kitchen. The tall branches also create a lot of impact with their height, ensuring the countertops underneath aren’t cluttered and still available to be used. The candles and gourds finish the look nicely.

Faux fall leaves are used here to make these amazing wreaths and as the base of the mantle decorations. The pinecones and pumpkins complement the look perfectly. Putting the small twig pumpkins on the shorter candle bases is a lovely touch.

Faux leaves are used here in conjunction with corn and small acorns to create a great windowsill focal point. This is a great example of the different textures you can achieve using multiple fall elements. Even though every cylinder is filled with something unique, they still create a cohesive look.
